ReplyDeletethe installation was done to conmemorate the soldiers that die in the wars from that country. The physical effects that are use in this piece of art are the projector and the flame that is an illusion. This is art because is something that its done by a human, but he get help from the technology. The social motive of this invention I think that is to invite other people to use the technology an for making art. The cultural motive is the meaning that they give to the flame, that it represent or make memory of warriors

ReplyDeleteWhat is the purpose of this installation?
It is meant to commemorate the soldiers that fought in the war that took place recently. The elements were the architectural instalation, a flame and voices telling stories aboutthe war, making it an overall stimulation of the senses.
It can be considered as art because it expresses an idea and a point of view of these people. It is different because it's something that actually interacts with people.
I does have a social motive, and it is to give other people a point of view of the war. It has a cultural motive too, but it's not as defined as the social one, in my opinion it's cultural motive is to inform people in a much richer way than just giving a conference about it.

The purpose of that installion was to venerate and honor the people who have died for their country in some of the United States wars, like the war with Iraq and Afghanistan for example.
The physical elements presented in this installations is the flame that is like the soul of the dead soldiers.
We can define this as art because it expresess something to all the people, it was made to conmemorate the heroes of their nation and they are made directly by hand.
This art is different from the other things that we have used to see because this isn't a painting or a sculpture made of stone, this is something historical and important for many lives, like the family of the fallen soldiers.
This has a social and culture motive because it is a symbol of heroism for the heroes of the won or lost wars.

ReplyDeleteI liked your comment because it's a different point of view from mine or hector's, and i liked because its good, reasonable and interesting.

ReplyDeleteit is very interesting to see these kinds of art, as far as i know, it was made to conmemorate all war veterans who fought for the freedom or for any other purpose for his country.
The effects that the artist made was awesome, i like th way he mixed the sound and the image of the flame together.
In the world, it's kind of hard to see and hear this kind of art, cause is out of the normal art, thats what makes it so special.
While i was watching the video, i started to imaging what would the soldiers feel when they hear and watch this.

The veteran´s flame is made with the purpose of commemorating the veterans of the war that die and deserved to be listened of their real thoughts, the physical elements used there was the image of the flame and also the voices that can be heard, it is art because it makes you feel sad and at the same way curious about what they said in the video, you can feel the warm of their words, that represent the flame,(at least, that´s what i think it is),this is not classic art that can be touched, it only can be seen or heard, but its not a "thing", its a very clever reason to remember them and it is art.

You comment is very complete, i like how you thought of everything and that you say that estimulates your senses. Also i see that you think like me when we think that it´s different because it can be touched, it interacts with them, a very well comment i would say.

The puspose of the installation is to give the sensation of being at the war, that's why the artist chose an old militar building.
There're many physical elements that are used, as the buildig, the flame, and the recorded voices, this makes the people feel like a retrospective of the history and make them feel closer the emotions that are narrated.
Because it evokes people's emotions and it has the purpouse of comunicate something using the estimulation of the senses.
This is very different, at least as I am used to "know" or "hear" about art, because, even if it has a messaje, it t"akes it out" in other way, a new an "innovating" way.
This has social and cultural motives; the social motive is to give an homage to the war's
veterans and meke the rest of the people to be concious of all what happened at the war.
The cultural motive of this, is the art by itself, the elements used, the innovation, the use of new tecniques, but also the action of represent something and expose it.
Does this have a cultural motive?

ReplyDeleteI love the artists that use the art for expresses something of world importance.
In this case the artist use the technology and the visual arts for transmit a message thinking about the viewers feelings.
I like it because its art of the new age, it isn’t something common because use the voice of veterans of war for move the flame.
This kind of art makes me feel sad, because the history of the piece of art tells us about the war and the veterans in other countries.

I like your interpretation of the flame as the words said, for me, the flame are the emotions, and the things that happened, but it also is like tha memorie of the people who die there.
Anyway, I like the way you define the flame, and I like that you mentioned that this tipe of art can't be touched, but it is Art.

ReplyDeletethe purpose the this installation is to remember the soldiers who died for their country, that's why we represent them with a flame.the image of a candle flame moves with the recorded voices of veterans sharing accounts of war.
the physical elements used was the flame.
this we can define art, because have something sentimential and represents something.
this art is different because is representing a people that made something to save, like soul and is not an art that we are used, because doesnt have drawings.
to unite people.
when those remembering someone or practicing your culture.

I like this video because it talks about the life of many people, people that goes to war and died, suffered, etc. the man of the video tells us about a veterans flame. The propose of that installation is to offer honor to the people who died.
He says us the flame cannot be touched but it can be heard and seen. I think this is art because is very different to other things and it provokes me different feelings. It is different because it has a history and it can be provokes different feelings like Sadness or pride and is very originally and unique.
I also think this have a social motive because it is inspired in all the people who gave his life in war and promotes the honor of them.

Well, the purpose of this installation is to honor and commemorate the heroes that participate in the different wars fighted by the USA. The most important element not exactly physical but is the principal is the flame, because it makes you feel all the feelings that the author wants you to feel, and this happen simply when you look it.
This art is different to the typical, because it uses weird elements, like the flame and the voices in the ambient sound, this isn’t something that we look in the typical art. The social motive of this piece of art is to make history and give the honor that the soldiers deserve, possibly this homenage can make the young people feel proud of their country and they want to serve it. Finally, the culture motive can be simply to use the art to honor to whom honor deserve.
I actually find this installation very attractive. If you picture yourself inside the building, in the darkness, seeing only the candle flame, and hearing only the echoing of the soldiers misadventures through Iraq's hell; you find yourself beholding a deeply touching piece of art.
ReplyDeleteI find in Krysztof's work an immense aesthetic value. Only to imagine such a feeling, it starts to gives me chills. And those chills are the aesthetic value I am referring to. The feelings it evokes are delicious.
It’s interesting, because we are not used to appreciate this kind of art. The difference between what we usually see and Krysztof's work is that, normally, we don't get so much involved in what the art is expressing. We can concretize a painting, but we will rarely get as involved in its message, as we will get by beholding this. I bet you'll feel real chills just by the atmosphere created, and if you add the commentaries of the soldiers, telling their real-life experiences in war... It'll surely get you there. It's such a realistic theme, that the message it gives you is very realistic for you too.
Just to define, I think that the difference between the common art and this one is the atmosphere created. For example: If this were a Van Gogh's landscape, you wouldn't be contemplating the landscape from a white room in New York, but from INSIDE the landscape. It's a whole new perspective of the art.
And not only the aesthetic value, but also the message given is interesting. By getting you in the soldiers’ situation, it gives you a new perspective of their situation. Feeling this might be even a better protest against war than a rock's protesting song. It uses the same weapon, but better employed: The empathy. By feeling what they felt -and being this feeling unhappy-, you want anyone not to pass through it again.
The candle flame is a projection, where the sound of the soldiers comes from too. It's practical, but I think that the atmosphere would have a greater impact by having a real flame; like a bonfire, or at least a torch. I know that it would be harder to have control over a real flame, but still I think it would be better.
I forgot my name and ID, haha.

The purpose of this installation is in memory of the soldiers who served in the war. The physical elements used in this video, were the architectures and the flame. We can define that this is art, because it expresses to the viewers the soldier’s courage fighting in the war, to reach an objective. It has a social motive, which is the fact that we need to collaborate with the people that surround us, and the cultural motive that is to inform about the war.

I like your comment, I also think that it is art, first, because you mention that it´s going to make us to feel something and secondly when you say that it is like a soul, a soul that reflects all the persons who died in the war and this way to be able to remember their voices.

Wow, what shows this video is so cool. Starting by the fact that it’s an original idea, and it transmits something, who made it do it thinking in something, so it is art, we can define it like art. The purpose of this installation is commemorate to the soldiers died in the wars, like the most recently with Iraq. I think all what you can see in this place is a single element, but of course the flame is like the representing of all of them. It is different because is not a picture, is not music, and yes, may be a building could be recognize for us like usual art, but almost never the buildings talk to you and let you see something like in this case. Yeah, may be those are special effects or where ever, but I think it involves you, and goes deep into the people who visits this place.
I think all this real art work, have a stronger social motive that cultural one, by the fact that makes you feel something, transmits you something, and make you imagine or at least feel for some few moments what the soldiers felt, may be their way of think or their perspective too. It’s a really complete artwork.
The fact that this artwork is in NY maybe not make it so attractive because it is a building, but it’s so different that I think the people who have the chance to know it are so lucky.

I really liked what you said at the finish of your comment. It’s a very good question that could be something really interesting to think about, and I’m completely agree with you. I’ll like to see their faces expressions and what will they say, also, I will like to know if their reactions could be of thankfully or not.

it's purpose is commemorate the war veterans from vietnam.
a building, benches and a flame are the fisical elements used.
we can define it as art because it expresses an idea ina creative and pleasant way.
It is different because we are used to not interacting with a piece, but this has a nice balance between expression and public interaction.
the social motive is for people to acknowledge the importance of the people who gave their lives at war.
it's cultural motive is for people to know how these people lived during the war, and what happened to them thru the stories that are being played.
